“Another practice I’m interested in is folding the Earth into every other thing I do, every decision I make. When I consider any concern I have for people, place, animal, culture, danger, I root myself back and the changes currently unfolding for her. What would the Earth have me do, have us do?.”

I’m heading back to the U.S. this week after almost 6 months in Australia. I’m packing up, saying my goodbyes, and preparing for the long arse transit that I’ll be doing with a very active party time all the time 11 month old toddler.
This transition has been taking up a lot of space in my mind, as has the state of the world.
As for the latter, rather than teeter on the verge of breakdown as I let the dread and worry for the world overwhelm, I’ve landed, instead, on a commitment to solutions. On doing what I can for myself, my family, my community. I’m considering the skills that I need/want, and where I can go to learn those skills. I have multiple pages open on my browser for courses and resources in self defence, composting, wood work, knitting, and more. I’ve started a list of all the things I need for my go-bag, in case we need to leave quickly in the night (podcast suggestion below!). And I’m planning activities that are beautiful and exciting and joy filled because that’s how I want my life to be.
I don’t have much more than that to share this month. But I still have my list of lovely life stuff below.
I really do hope you’re all doing ok :)

This email was composed where I am currently staying, which is the region now known as Melbourne, Victoria. I would, therefore, like to acknowledge the people of the Kulin Nation, Traditional Custodians of the land for which I am on. I pay my respects to their Elders past and present.
