Hiiiiiiiii.
I’m Sammy-Jo.
I don’t know.
I write one slow letter a month about reflection, hope, despair, feminism, and the strange work of being human in a world that keeps asking for certainty.
This space is called i don’t know because — honestly — I don’t.
Most days I’m just trying to make sense of motherhood, culture, power, and the quiet politics of daily life without pretending to have the answers.
You’ll find essays here about the small and the systemic: the invisible labor of care, the messiness of love, the collapse of attention, and the ways we keep trying anyway.
Sometimes I get tender. Sometimes sarcastic. Usually both at once.
If you like your feminism honest, your reflections unpolished, and your hope a little feral — you’ll probably feel at home here.
Subscribe if you’d like one thoughtful letter a month and the occasional short note between.
No hustle, no hot takes, no algorithmic bait. Just writing — and wondering out loud.
Also, here are some things that you probably don’t care about but that I’m going to tell you anyway:
I don’t love capsicums (peppers).
I’m a Gemini sun and moon (eek), and a Pisces rising.
I’ve been divorced twice, I think everyone should try it… at least once.
I’m a super messy, complex human.
I cannot handle goodbyes.
I had a crush on Tony Danza when I was kid in the ‘90s. I probably need to unpack this with my therapist.
I enjoy me some interior design Pinterest.
I believe that governments should pay reparations.
I have a dog called Crikey.
I’m a geriatric Millennial.
I’m an Australian living in the U.S..
I have a degree in women’s and gender studies. I’m an angry feminist. Grrr grrr.
I’m dedicated to learning about transformative justice.
I’m a mum.
I’m mostly tired.
Tell your friends.
If you have a friend, or many friends that you think might enjoy my thoughts about the world, and life and whatnot, I would love it if you would refer them.
The Substack App is really great.
You should download it.
Thank so much for being here. You’re great.
